Our Story and Expertise
TSBA Controls, Inc. and Thomas S. Brown Associates, Inc., founded in 1973, are New York based corporations specializing in the distribution, design, installation and service of automatic temperature controls and building management systems. These activities are supported from our New York and North Carolina offices where Sales, Engineering, Operations, Integrations, Service, Panel Fabrication and Warehousing Departments are coordinated. The products and open systems offered include stand-alone and networked direct digital control systems, wireless technologies, pneumatic control systems, energy management systems, retro-commissioning and third-party integration. The companies hold numerous certifications including Johnson Controls’ Facility Explorer®, Siemens Talon®, Tridium Niagara AX, Tridium Niagara N4, Lynxspring and Echelon Authorized Network Integrator, as well as BT300 and VS Series VFD’s. Our slogan and trademark, “We Invite Comparison®” conveys the pride we take in our designs, products, installations and services.
Our strengths lay in our ability to provide all aspects of HVAC control systems, including sales, surveys, design, specifications, sequences, programming, third-party integration, service, preventive maintenance, training and turnkey installations of BACnet®, LonWorks®, pneumatic, electric/electronic, wireless and stand-alone systems. Our portfolio also includes the control of critical environments, process automation and asset protection.
The companies were founded by Thomas Stewart Brown, a graduate Mechanical Engineer. After having risen through the ranks at a global controls company, Mr. Brown founded the TSBA companies in 1973. Within five years, Mr. Brown established TSBA as a viable competitor in the marketplace. Second and third generation Brown family members have continued Mr. Brown’s legacy.
To current day, we have provided control systems for all sizes of public, private and institutional facilities. We have worked with many of the largest architects, consulting firms, general contractors, construction managers and mechanical contractors in the industry. With over 45 years of experience, we have gained the respect of our peers.

We host our sales, service, engineering and construction departments from both of our locations, New York and North Carolina.

TSBA Controls has completed many large and demanding projects in the New York Metropolitan area including the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Irving Cancer Research Center at Columbia University, North River Water Treatment Facility and the St. George Ferry Terminal.
All these projects required state-of-the-art direct digital control systems to be installed to work seamlessly. Our projects range from controlling intensive trading floor systems to rigorous pollution control plant systems, to museums whose artwork requires extremely close control of temperature and humidity.
